The Heber Public Utility District operates four lift stations and one regional lift station located inside the wastewater treatment facility; all pumping raw sewage into the Heber Public Utility District Wastewater Treatment Plant. Each lift station consists of two four inch pumps and the Regional lift station has two six inch submersible pumps. All lift stations and sewer lines are being maintained by Heber Public Utility District staff.
The Heber Public Utility District Wastewater Treatment Plant is a modified activated sludge plant that uses microorganisms to stabilize and treat the incoming wastewater. The treatment plant has a total design capacity of 1.2 MGD, having two .400 MGD STM Aerotor basins and two .200MGD Oxidation Ditches to maintain the dissolved oxygen levels to the microorganisms. The treatment plant has a splitter box where wastewater can flow evenly through the STM aerotors and or through the Oxidation Ditches. The wastewater treatment plant comprises a headworks facility, having two in channel comminutors, three non- clog submersible pumps, two rotary drum screens with a grit classifier, two Return Activated Sludge Pumps (RAS), two Waste Activated Sludge pumps. (WAS), and two secondary clarifiers. Wastewater effluent is disinfected by one of our two UV disinfection units before it is discharged to the Central Drain 3-D No. 1 an Imperial Valley Drain, water of the United States, and tributary to the Alamo River within the Salton Sea Watershed.
